ROADS 2000 GOK/KfW WESTERN KENYA PROGRAMME

GOK/KfW ROADS 2000 WESTERN KENYA PROGRAMME

The Government of Kenya has received financial support from the Government of Germany through KfW (German Development Bank) towards the cost of the Programme for Improvement of Rural Roads and Market Infrastructure in Western Kenya, and intends to use part of the funds for the rehabilitation of rural roads to gravel standards in the Counties of Kakamega and Vihiga. Kenya Rural Roads Authority will be the implementing Agency.

In this connection, Kenya Rural Roads Authority in conjunction with respective County Governments now invites Tenders from Contractors registered with the National Construction Authority in Category NCA 7 only (Roads) for the improvement of the following roads to gravel standard:-

Eligible Tenderers must meet the following qualification criteria:-

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Certificate of Incorporation
  • Certificate of registration with the National Construction Authority in Category NCA7 (Roads and Civil works). Contractors registered in Category NCA1 to NCA6 and Category NCA 8 are
  • VAT/PIN Registration
  • Valid Tax Compliance Certificate
  • Audited Accounts for the last 2 years
  • Certified certificates for labour-based training on spot improvement/rehabilitation of roads from Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or Kisii Training Centre (KTC) of one Director and two Supervisors
  • Physical registered office address

Adequacy of qualification will be determined through an evaluation procedure as described in the Instructions to Tenders.

Tender documents may be obtained from Regional Manager’s Offices in Kakamega and Vihiga as listed below from 21st September, 2018 during normal working hours upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Kshs 1,000 per tender in the form of a banker’s cheque payable to Kenya Rural Roads Authority. Tender Documents can also be downloaded FOR FREE from KeRRA website –www.kerra.go.ke and the IFMIS supplier Portal-supplier.treasury.go.ke

Completed and sequentially serialized Tender Documents shall be deposited in the Tender Box located at the offices of the respective Regional Manager’s on or before 11.00 a.m on 12th October, 2018. Opening of the Tenders will be done immediately in the presence of Tenders/Representatives who wish to attend.

Each tender must be accompanied by a Bid Bond of Kshs 100,000.00 in either a Bank Guarantee or from a PPRA approved Insurance Company. The Bid Bond shall remain valid for at least 180 days from the date of submission of tenders.

Pre-tender site visits are mandatory and they shall be conducted on the dates indicated in this Notice from 8.30am at the respective KeRRA Regional Manager’s Offices.

Tenderers may tender for more than one contract but shall be considered for award of only one contract. Tenderers with an ongoing project under the Programme are not eligible.

The completed Tender Documents put in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked “Tender No…” as shown in the table above for each road, should be addressed respectively to:-
