Building a Sustainable Future, Kerra’s Tree Planting Campaign.
In a remarkable display of environmental stewardship, officials from the Kenya Rural Roads Authority joined hands at the Kaptagat forest in Elgeyo Marakwet County for an annual tree-planting exercise.
Staff from the head office, along with the Uasin Gishu, Baringo, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, and Keiyo Marakwet regions, united to restore and rehabilitate this critical 5600- hectare forest.
KeRRA contributed an impressive 25,000 seedlings, with four hectares planted on the first day. Led by the Director of the planning environment and design, Eng. Jackson Magondu, the second day of planting saw even greater efforts to secure the region’s rain catchment areas.
The event held at Kaptagat Girls was graced by the presence of the President, Deputy President and Prime Cabinet secretary, showcasing the national importance of this initiative. Adding to the day’s excitement was a forest run where top athletes were celebrated and awarded cash prizes.
