Cabinet Secretary Roads and Transport witnesses signing of KeRRA Performance Contract
The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Davis Chirchir presided over the signing of the Performance Contract for the financial year 2024/2025 for the state departments and agencies under his ministry. The ceremony took place at the Barabara Plaza Auditorium in the presence of the KeRRA Board, DG as well as the Principal Secretary for Roads and Principal Secretary for Transport.
The event was attended by representatives from the other road authorities, i.e. Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA), Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and Kenya Roads Board (KRB) all of whom signed similar contracts tailored to their specific mandates. This collective effort underscores a unified approach towards enhancing road infrastructure across the nation. The signing aimed to align each authority’s goals with the broader objectives outlined in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which seeks to improve service delivery and accountability in public projects.
The CS emphasized the importance of timely execution and monitoring of road projects, highlighting past achievements while acknowledging existing challenges. The forum also served as a platform for discussing strategies to expedite road construction and maintenance efforts, ensuring that all stakeholders are committed to achieving their targets for the upcoming financial year.
In a symbolic gesture of commitment to environmental sustainability, CS Chirchir together with his Principal Secretaries, Eng. Joseph Mbugua for Roads and Mr. Mohamed Daghar for Transport planted trees in order to contribute to government’s Jaza Miti Initiative.
