Prequalification Questionnaire for Selection of PBRM Batch 1 Contractors for Training
The Government of Kenya has received a loan from Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) – Credit No. CKE 1117 and EU grant towards the implementation of the Climate Proofed Arid and Semi-Arid Land (ASAL) Rural Roads Project in the Counties of Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Laikipia, Samburu, Isiolo and Marsabit, and intends to use part of these funds for training of small-scale Contractors in Performance Based Road Maintenance Contract Works on the network using labour based methods.
In this connection, the Kenya Rural Roads Authority – KeRRA now invites small-scale local construction firms interested in carrying out road maintenance works in the regions listed below to apply for consideration for training.
The proposed training aims at providing the owners and senior staff of these enterprises with the knowledge and skills required to carry out road maintenance operations correctly and to manage their businesses efficiently.
| i. Contractors currently registered with National construction Authority (NCA) 8, only.

| ii. Interested contractors should be in the register of prequalified contractors in the respective region

Stage 1: |
Primary Screening | Vetting of all applications to select candidates meeting the conditions set in the prequalification Questionnaire and recommend for interview |
| Stage 2: | Interviews | Oral and written interviews ascertain suitability of the recommended candidates and the correctness of information provided |
| Stage 3: | Verification and final selection | Verification of the authenticity of all information provided and recommendation to KeRRA for formal invitation for training |
At the end of the selection process 25 Contractors will be selected and invited for training.
Another such opportunity will be available in Year 4 (2026) of the project.
The selected Contractors will undergo intensive classroom and field training by Kenya Institute of Highways & Building Technology (KIHBT). Most of the training will be undertaken in Isiolo region. Only those Contractors who complete the training course successfully will be considered by the Regional Tender Committees for carrying Performance Based Routine Maintenance Road Works
A brochure providing more information about the training course and the required prequalification forms will be available from the Authority’s website www.kerra.go.ke free of charge with effect from 8th October,2025.
The completed documents in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked “Tender No. ……………………………” should be addressed and submitted to the respective KeRRA Regional Office on or before 11.00 AM on 22nd October, 2025.
