The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (“KeRRA”) through the Government of Kenya has received financing from Agence Française de Développement (“AFD“) and European Union (“EU”) and intends to use part of the funds for training of Small-scale Contractors in the rehabilitation of roads to gravel standards using labour-based methods in the Counties of Laikipia, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Samburu, Isiolo, and Marsabit.
In this connection, KeRRA invites Small-Scale local construction firms interested in the training to apply for consideration. The proposed training aims at providing the Directors (owners) and Site Supervisors (Senior Technical Staff) of selected enterprises with the knowledge and skills required to carry out road rehabilitation and maintenance operations correctly and to manage their businesses efficiently.
The cadre of Contractors targeted are those who are currently registered by the National Construction Authority (NCA) under Categories 7 and 8.
Note 1: Contractors registered under NCA Categories 1 to 6 need not apply.

Stage 3: | Verification and final selection | Verification and authentication of candidates’ information followed by recommendation for formal invitation for training |
At the end of the selection process, 25 Directors and 50 Site supervisors; representing 25 Contracting Enterprises, will be selected and invited for training.
The selected contractors will undergo intensive classroom and field training by the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT). Most of the training will be undertaken in Isiolo.
Issuance of training certificates shall STRICTLY be upon full completion of the training. The National Construction Authority (NCA) shall, in addition, award 10 CPD points to all Contractors who successfully complete the course.
A brochure providing more information about the training course and the required prequalification forms will be available free-of-charge from the Authority’s Website www.kerra.go.ke , with effect from 23rd January 2025.
Dully filled Prequalification Forms shall be deposited in Tender Boxes located at the respective KeRRA Regional Offices on or before 11.00 am on 4th February, 2025.
